Arsenal Snatch Dramatic Late Win at Newcastle

Arsenal left it late but sealed a 2–1 comeback victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, keeping their Premier League title hopes alive and piling the pressure on leaders Liverpool.

How the Game Unfolded

The match began with Arsenal enjoying more possession, but it was Newcastle who struck first. In the 34th minute, Nick Woltemade punished a sloppy back-pass from Cristhian Mosquera, winning a corner that led to the opener.

Arsenal fought hard but couldn’t find a breakthrough until the final minutes. Mikel Merino levelled the score in the 84th minute, sparking belief among the visiting fans.

Deep into stoppage time, Arsenal completed the turnaround. In the 96th minute, captain Martin Ødegaard whipped in a corner, and Gabriel Magalhães rose highest to head home the winner.

Player Highlights

  • Declan Rice: Put in a tireless shift in midfield, breaking up play and driving Arsenal forward.
  • Jurrien Timber: Solid at the back and composed under pressure.
  • Cristhian Mosquera: Struggled in William Saliba’s absence, his error led to Newcastle’s opener.
  • Martin Ødegaard: Provided the decisive assist, proving once again why he’s Arsenal’s creative heartbeat.

What It Means
