PENGASSAN vs Dangote! Union Accuses Refinery of Anti-Labour Practices, Demands Justice for Fired Nigerian Workers

The drama between PENGASSAN (Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria) and the Dangote Refinery just got hotter! ⚡️

The powerful oil workers’ union has openly accused the newly launched refinery of engaging in anti-labour practices, claiming that Nigerian staff are being sidelined, mistreated, and unfairly fired while foreign workers take the lead. 🇳🇬❌

According to PENGASSAN, several Nigerian workers were allegedly sacked without due process — and the union is demanding their immediate reinstatement.

“We cannot allow a refinery built on Nigerian soil, with Nigerian resources, to disrespect Nigerian workers. This is modern-day slavery disguised as employment,” the union blasted in a fiery statement.

The Dangote Refinery, which has been celebrated as Africa’s biggest industrial project, is now facing serious backlash as workers and activists accuse it of favouring expatriates over locals. 🚨

PENGASSAN has also hinted at possible nationwide protests and strikes if the issue is not resolved, warning that they will “shut down operations” until justice is served.

Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media are already reacting, with many supporting the workers and calling out the refinery for “forgetting the people that made it possible.” Others are urging the government to step in before the crisis escalates.

This is definitely one to watch closely… 👀
